Overnight oats mean breakfast is done before you go to bed. The oats drink in the milk and yogurt while you sleep, so by morning you have a spoonable, creamy jar ready to top however you like.
Ingredients
- ½ cup (45 g) rolled oats
- ½ cup (120 ml) milk of choice
- ¼ cup (60 g) plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Fresh fruit, nuts or nut butter, to serve
Method
- 1
In a jar or small container, stir together the oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla and salt.
- 2
Seal and refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight.
- 3
In the morning, stir well and loosen with a splash more milk if needed.
- 4
Top with fresh fruit, a spoon of nut butter or a scatter of nuts and serve cold.
Chef's tips
- Use rolled oats, not quick or steel-cut, for the right texture.
- Assemble three or four jars on Sunday for an easy weekday run.
